The Criminal Justice Research Center Graduate Student Symposium will be held on Thursday, November 10th from 10:30 am-1:00 pm in Room 038 Townshend Hall, IPR's Conference Room in the basement of Townshend. The presenting graduate students have received CJRC Travel Grants to attend the Amercian Society of Criminology national conference in New Orleans from November 15-19 at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel and Conference Center. The Graduate Student Symposium provides the graduate students with an opportunity to practice their presentations and provides our social and behavioral sciences community at Ohio State with an opportunity to hear about the research that is underway by some of our outstanding students. The graduate students will be presenting their research on the following topics:

2. Eric LaPlant “Racial Threat, Criminal History, and Employment: Examining the Determinants of Ban the Box Passage”
3. Scott Duxbury “Distinction by Similarity: Drugs, Medicine, and Illegitimating."
6. Stephanie Pierce “The Impact of Housing Instability on Criminal Trajectories”
7. Sade Lindsay “Social Support and Mental Health in State and Federal Prisons”
8. Lora Philips “Ferguson and Beyond: A Theoretical and Empirical Assessment of How Race and Place Matter for Arrest”
9. Laura DeMarco “Minority Threat, Social Control, and Voting Patterns for Authoritarian Candidates”
10. Evelyn Gertz “Is Genocidal Behavior Learned? Assessing the Familial Ties of Genocide Perpetrators”
11. Laura Frizzell “Sexual Anxiety and Sexual Identities: Implications for Prescription Drug Misuse”
